Trailer For The Deep South-Set Mystery Thriller WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING
Sony Pictures has shared the first trailer for a new mystery thriller titled Where The Crawdads Sing. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and it tells the story of a young woman who pretty much raised herself in the marshes of the Deep South in North Carolina. Her life takes a turn for the worse when she ends up being the suspect of the murder of someone that she was involved with.
The movie was directed by Olivia Newman (First Match, Chicago Fire, FBI) and it was produced by Reese Witherspoon. Where the Crawdads Sing stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kya Clark, Taylor John Smith as Tate, Harris Dickinson as Chase, Michael Hyatt as Mabel, Sterling Macer, Jr. as "Jumpin," and David Strathairn as Tom Milton. The synopsis for the film reads:
From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery. Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.
This actually looks like a good mystery thriller and I enjoy mystery thrillers, so this might actually be something worth checking out. In case you’re curious about the music in the trailer, it’s an original song from Taylor Swift.
Sony Pictures will debut Where The Crawdads Sing in theaters on July 15th, 2022.
