Trailer for the Documentary FIRE OF LOVE Tells an Awe-Inspiring Volcano-Fueled Love Story
Neon has released a trailer for a spectacular-looking feature-film documentary titled Fire of Love, which tells the fascinating true story of a French couple that dedicated their lives to the study of volcanoes. Katia and Maurice Krafft “died just as explosively as they lived — capturing the most spectacular imagery ever recorded of their greatest passion: volcanoes.”
The movie was made from thousands of hours of footage that the couple left behind, and it pieces together their lives and helps audiences understand the kind of people they were. Both as a couple and what they were looking to accomplish in their study of volcanos. It’s pretty awe-inspiring!
Katia and Maurice Krafft loved two things — each other and volcanoes. For two decades, the daring French volcanologist couple were seduced by the thrill and danger of this elemental love triangle. They roamed the planet, chasing eruptions and their aftermath, documenting their discoveries in stunning photographs and breathtaking film to share with an increasingly curious public in media appearances and lecture tours. Ultimately, Katia and Maurice would lose their lives during a 1991 volcanic explosion on Japan's Mount Unzen, but they would leave a legacy that would forever enrich our knowledge of the natural world."
I’ve always had a fascination with volcanoes, but this couple took their fascination and love for them to a whole new level and the footage that they captured is pretty stunning.
Fire of Love is directed by Sara Dosa (The Last Season and The Seer and the Unseen), and it will be released in select theaters starting on July 6th, 2022, expanding nationwide this summer. It will also get a streaming debut on NatGeo later this year. I can’t wait to watch this!
