Trailer for the Film Adaptation of CHIPS Starring Michael Peña and Dax Shepard
I loved watching the TV show CHiPs when I was growing up, and now there's a feature film adaptation starring Michael Peña and Dax Shepard. The first trailer was just released for the movie, and you can tell that they tried to capture that 21 Jump Street movie vibe and humor, but it just doesn't hit that bar. I guess that's what happens when you aren't as insanely talented as Jump Street writers and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Maybe you'll like what you see in the trailer, though! I personally wasn't impressed. CHiPs was written and directed by Shepard, and this is the synopsis:
In CHiPs, Jon Baker (Shepard) and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP. The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s bike skills combined with Ponch’s street savvy it might just work… if they don’t drive each other crazy along the way.
CHiPs also co-stars Rosa Salazar (The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Alita Battle Angel), Adam Brody (The O.C.), Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Emerald City, Marvel’s Daredevil). The movie opens in theaters on March 24.
