Trailer for THE HANDMAID'S TALE Sequel Series THE TESTAMENTS Offers Hope in a World Still Ruled by Gilead

Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale are getting their first real look at the next chapter of Gilead, and it’s shaping up to be just as intense. Hulu has released the first trailer for The Testaments, the upcoming sequel series based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name.

The preview introduces a new generation growing up under Gilead’s oppressive rule while hinting at the kind of rebellion that could shake the system from within.

If you thought life in Gilead couldn’t get any more complicated, the story of The Testaments is here to prove otherwise.

The series centers on two young women whose lives are tied to the regime in very different ways. Agnes, played by Chase Infiniti, is a dutiful and deeply devout teenager raised inside Gilead’s strict social order.

Daisy, played by Lucy Halliday, arrives from outside the country and is newly brought into Gilead’s world. Their paths collide in a place designed to mold young girls into obedient wives.

That place is Aunt Lydia’s elite school.

Ann Dowd returns to reprise her role as Aunt Lydia, who now oversees a prestigious preparatory academy where future wives are trained in loyalty and submission. Inside these polished halls, obedience is taught through strict discipline and constant religious justification.

Agnes and Daisy form a connection while navigating the rigid expectations of the school. What starts as a shared experience slowly becomes something more dangerous. Their growing bond sparks a chain reaction that could reshape everything they thought they knew about their past, their present, and the future of Gilead itself.

The series expands the world with a large supporting cast that includes Mabel Li as Aunt Vidalia, Amy Seimetz as Paula, Brad Alexander as Garth, Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite, Mattea Conforti as Becka Grove, Zarrin Darnell-Martin as Aunt Gabbana, Eva Foote as Aunt Estee, Isolde Ardies as Huldah, Shechinah Mpumlwana as Jehosheba, Birva Pandya as Miriam, and Kira Guloien as Rosa.

The creative team behind The Handmaid’s Tale is also guiding this new chapter. The series is created by showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller, with executive producers Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss. Mike Barker is set to direct the first three episodes and the finale. The show is produced by MGM Television and 20th Television.

Viewers won’t have to wait long to dive back into Gilead. The Testaments premieres April 8 with its first three episodes on Hulu. New episodes will arrive weekly after that.

The series will stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the United States, with international audiences able to watch on Disney+.
