Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the first trailer for an upcoming historical pirate adventure drama titled Edge of the World. The film comes from director Michael Haussman and a script written by Rob Allyn. The film is based on a true story that is set in 1839.

In the story, “Brooke flees Victorian England to explore Borneo. After a pirate attack, Brooke allies with rival princes to seize a rebel fort. To save prisoners from beheading, Brooke agrees to be crowned Rajah. James begs the Royal Navy for a steamship to fight pirates, but the British want his kingdom as a colony. Makota’s pirates massacre Brooke's capital, leaving James half-dead. To save his people, he must shed Englishness and embrace the jungle: ‘All of it, the beauty and the blood.’”

The movie also features a solid ensemble cast that includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Sir James Brooke, Dominic Monaghan as Colonel Arthur Crookshank, Josie Ho as Madame Lim, Hannah New as Elizabeth Crookshank, Ralph Ineson as Sir Edward Beech, Bront Palarae as Pengiran Indera Mahkota, Shaheizy Sam as Subu, and Wan Hanafi Su as Sultan of Brunei.

The movie looks like a decent film worth checking out and it’s set to be released on June 4th.
