Trailer For THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for The Hunger Games prequel film The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The movie stars Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird and Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow and the story is set decades before Katniss Everdeen’s adventurous story, and it focuses on a young 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, an ambitious boy who eventually ultimately becomes the tyrannical leader of the dystopian country of Panem.
For the most part, I enjoyed the original Hunger Games movies. They were really well made, and while I wasn’t a fan of the book that this new film is based on, the trailer makes the movie look decent. There’s no doubt that hardcore Hunger Games fans are excited about this, though.
The movie follows “a young Coriolanus who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from the impoverished District 12,” reads the synopsis. “But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.”
The film also has a great supporting cast that includes Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Jason Schwartzman.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is being helmed by franchise director Francis Lawrence and will be released in theaters on November 17th, 2023. Watch the trailer and tell us what you think!
