Trailer For The Japanese Knockoff of Sam Raimi's THE EVIL DEAD - THE JAPANESE EVIL DEAD
In 1995 writer and director Shinichi Fukazawa started shooting a Japanese knockoff of Sam Raimi’s classic horror film The Evil Dead, but “it wasn’t until over 10 years later that the low-budget 8mm splatter film was actually finished."
The movie is officially titled Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell (or Jigoku No Chimidoro Muscle Builder). The unofficial title, though, is The Japanese Evil Dead. The movie was released in Japan several years ago, but it has never been officially released in the U.S. It’s coming later this year, though, and Wild Eye has released a trailer for it that I think you’ll enjoy.
The director of the film also stars in it as Shinji, who is basically the Japanese version of "Bruce Campbell" and in the film, he finds himself in an abandoned home with his girlfriend where ends up battling a relentless ghost with a 30-year grudge. Here’s the synopsis:
After a surprise phone call interrupts his daily workout, beefy body builder Shinji agrees to meet his photojournalist ex-girlfriend to help with her research on haunted houses. Accompanied by a professional psychic, they visit an abandoned house once owned by Shinji's father. But inside the house a dark secret lingers and they find themselves trapped and tormented by a relentless ghost with a 30 year grudge.
Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell a.k.a. The Japanese Evil Dead will be released in the US on DVD and VOD sometime later this year. This looks like a ridiculously fun movie and I’m looking forward to watching it!
