Trailer for the Jason Sudeikis and Evangeline Lilly Crime Thriller SOUTH OF HEAVEN
It’s hard to imagine Jason Sudeikis in a super-serious role in a crime thriller film, but that’s exactly what we are going to get in the upcoming movie South of Heaven. He stars alongside Evangeline Lilly, Mike Colter, and Shea Whigham, and it looks like it might be pretty good!
I’m so used to seeing Sudeikis as Ted Lasso that it’s a little jarring seeing him in a very different kind of role like this! Regardless, it’s good for actors to try new and different things, so I’ll give this a go!
Sudeikis plays convicted felon Jimmy in the movie and he ends up getting early parole after serving twelve years for armed robbery. “Upon his release, he vows to give his girlfriend Annie (Lilly), who is dying of cancer, the best last year of her life. But things are never that simple, and when he is given a “side job” from his parole officer (Whigham), it sets off a series of events that leaves Jimmy in the crosshairs of a local crime boss (Colter). Now, he must stop at nothing to save Annie and fight for whatever time they have left.”
The movie was directed by Aharon Keshales from a script he wrote with Kai Mark and Navot Papushado. The movie will be released in theaters, On Demand and Digital on October 8th, 2021.
