Trailer For The John Lennon-May Pang Documentary THE LOST WEEKEND: A LOVE STORY
Briarcliff Entertainment has picked up a new documentary titled The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, which covers the romantic relationship between John Lennon and May Pang.
In the doc, May Pang opens up about her whirlwind love affair with singer John Lennon, when she was just 23 years old and his assistant. This is a story about Lennon’s life that I was not familiar with until now. It seems like things got pretty wild, and it was a complex time for everyone involved.
The film tells the “true tale that took 50 years to tell. It follows John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s personal assistant, May Pang, as she recounts her 18-month relationship with John—a relationship orchestrated by Yoko herself. During this extraordinary period, May helped John reunite with his son Julian and participated firsthand in his most productive period post-Beatles in which he released albums like Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, and collaborated with powerhouses like David Bowie and Elton John. Featuring moments with Julian Lennon, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper, and Paul McCartney, May chronicles it all from her unique perspective as a 22-year-old experiencing her first unforgettable love.”
Pang said: “After 50 years, I finally get to share my story of John and myself through my eyes and my voice. I want to thank Tom Ortenberg for making this a reality for me.”
Briarcliff CEO Tom Ortenberg added: “As a music lover and a real fan of the Beatles, I am excited to partner with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and this group of incredible filmmakers to share May’s amazing story with audiences. The Lost Weekend is a story that will resonate deeply with anyone captivated by the magic of John Lennon and the complexities of human relationships.”
The Lost Weekend will premiere on digital and Blu-ray on October 13, 2023.
