Trailer for the Live-Action/Graphic Novel-Style Animated Season 7 Finale of THE BLACKLIST
NBC has released the trailer for the upcoming Season 7 finale of The Blacklist. The series was in the middle of shooting its 19th episode, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” when production shut down. To finish the episode, producers decided to create graphic novel-style animation to add to the already filmed live-action scenes.
The result is an interesting looking hybrid project. As you’ll see, they did the best they could with what they had to work with. The animation comes off as being a little distracting, but in the end, the story is the most important thing.
Here’s the synopsis for the season finale:
The Task Force investigates an accountant who works for lucrative criminals in order to find the violent and thuggish brothers hired for his protection. Liz must make a momentous decision. Presented in a unique hybrid of live-action and graphic novel-style animation.
The live-action graphic novel-style animated hybrid was able to be completed with the editors and animators finishing up their work remotely. James Spader, Megan Boone, and the other actors recorded their dialogue from their homes for the animated scenes.
The season finale will air May 15th.
