Trailer for the Mockumentary Film THE PREMIERE About a SCREAM Musical Gone Wrong

Tribeca Films has released the trailer for The Premiere, a sharp and self-aware mockumentary from indie filmmakers Christopher Bouckoms and Sam Pezzullo.

The film follows Sam, a wildly narcissistic and delusional theater producer (Pezzullo), who decides to turn his all-time favorite movie, Scream, into a full-blown stage musical in Sag Harbor, New York.

His dream quickly spirals into chaos as he butts heads with eccentric locals and navigates one painfully awkward situation after another.

In the film: “Drawing inspiration from cringe comedy classics, The Premiere is a largely improvised comedy that blurs the line between fact & fiction. Sam, a painfully narcissistic and delusional theater producer, attempts to make a musical version of his favorite movie, Scream, at a local theater in the town of Sag Harbor, New York, encountering a series of awkward and outrageous scenarios along the way.

“Supported by a cast of quirky characters and real life locals, the film is both a love letter to and a satirical commentary on the Hamptons that breaks the mold of traditional storytelling, described by the filmmakers simply as a mockumentary about a documentary about making a musical about a movie.”

Alongside Pezzullo, the cast includes Kristen Curcie, Mohna Hoppe, Ruby Jackson, and Alan Ceppos, with the production making heavy use of real Hamptons personalities. Mixing satire with genuine affection for the local community, Bouckoms and Pezzullo craft a behind-the-scenes disaster that’s as much about the quirks of the Hamptons as it is about adapting a horror classic for the stage.
