Trailer for the New Andy Kaufman Documentary THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Drafthouse Films has released the trailer for a new documentary film about legendary comedian Andy Kaufman, and it’s titled Thank You Very Much.

I’ve always been fascinated by Kaufman and his style of comedy, so this is a doc I’m very interested in watching.

The synopsis reads: “In his short, enigmatic life, Andy Kaufman entertained & transfixed audiences while simultaneously driving them away. His work dissolved boundaries separating reality from fiction; his commitment to performance, both on stage and off, rendered any distinctions between his characters and his real life useless.

“Was he a comic, an affable sit-com star, a washed-up lounge singer, a bus boy, a pro wrestler, a hoaxer, a provocateur or a pest? Nearly 40 years after his supposed death, one question still puzzles fans and haters alike: ‘was that for real?’

“Thank You Very Much is the definitive documentary look at how a shy, oddball kid from Long Island, NY, became the most polarizing performance artist of the 20th century.”

The film was directed byAlex Braverman, who said: "The greatest joy of making a documentary about Andy Kaufman is that he is impossible to define.

“The musicality of his act, his shapeshifting, and wild tonal experimentation gave us a thrilling, enigmatic performer whose influence can still be felt across our entertainment, art, and even politics. But for me, his most indelible legacy is that he wasn't afraid to be the fullest, most beguiling version of himself no matter how others responded to it.

“That's his genius. I'm thrilled to have been able to spend this much time immersed in his world and couldn’t be prouder to share my vision of his life & work." That sounds like this is a must watch! Especially for comedy fans or anyone that finds Kaufman amusing – or not.”

Drafthouse Films will release Thank You Very Much in select theaters and on VOD starting on March 28th, 2025.
