Trailer For The Next STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS Episode "Calypso" Teases a 1,000 Year Time Jump

CBS All Access has released the teaser trailer for the next episode of their Star Trek: Short Treks, series. It’s called "Calypso" and it teases a story that is set 1,000 years after Star Trek: Discovery, in the year 3256.

The new episode focuses on a character named Craft (Aldis Hodge), who "After waking up in an unfamiliar sickbay, finds himself on board a deserted ship, and his only companion and hope for survival is an A.I. computer interface."

The this looks like it’s going to be a great episode and it was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.

The first Star Trek: Short Treks episode, “Runaway”, debuted earlier this month. That story focused on Ens. Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) of the USS Discovery as she was being terrorized by an alien that can cloak itself.

Each short film will run 10-15 minutes long and “will be an opportunity for fans to dive deeper into key themes and characters that fit into the Star Trek: Discovery and expanding Star Trek universe.” Future episodes will focus on Doug Jones‘ character Saru and Rainn Wilson‘s character Harry Mudd.

Star Trek: Short Treks, "Calypso" debuts November 8th on CBS All Access.
