Trailer For THE OUTRUN Starring Saoirse Ronan Based on Amy Liptrot's Memoir of Sobriety
A great trailer has been released for the film The Outrun, starring Saoirse Ronan. The story is based on Amy Liptrot's bestselling memoir of the same name, which describes the journey of an alcoholic woman who returns to her homeland - the remote Orkney Islands located off the northern coast of Scotland at the very top of the UK.
Ronan is joined by Saskia Reeves, Stephen Dillane, Lauren Lyle, Izuka Hoyle, and Paapa Essiedu.
The film is directed by Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher, The Unforgivable, Without This World) from a screenplay written by Fingscheidt and Liptrot, based on a screen story written by Liptrot, Fingscheidt and Daisy Lewis.
The full synopsis reads:
After a decade away living in London, 29-year-old Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns back home to the Orkney Islands, north of Scotland. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress her memory of the events which set her on this journey of recovery. Slowly the beauty and lore of the land enters her inner world and – one day at a time – Rona finds hope and strength in herself among the heavy gales and the bracingly cold sea.
