Trailer for THE POLITICIAN Brings Dark Comedy to the Treacherous World of High School Politics

We’ve got a fun little trailer for you to check out from the Netflix series The Politician. The show has an amazing cast that includes Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect), Lucy Boynton (Murder on the Orient Express, Bohemian Rhapsody), Zoey Deutch (Why Him?, The Disaster Artist), Jessica Lange (Tootsie, American Horror Story), Dylan McDermott (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, American Horror Story), Bette Midler (Beaches, Hocus Pocus), Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespeare in Love, Avengers: Endgame), January Jones (Mad Men, The Last Man on Earth), and Judith Light (Who’s the Boss?, Transparent).

The series was created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story), who will direct an episode, as will Helen Hunt, who we know from acting in Mad About You and Twister, as well as her recent directing gigs on episodes of This is Us, Splitting Up Together, and American Housewife. The synopsis for the series is as follows:

Payton Hobart (Ben Platt), a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, has known since age seven that he’s going to be the President of the United States. But first he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image. Full of dark comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.

This looks like a super fun series, and I can’t wait to check it out. The Politician hits Netflix this Friday. Watch the trailer below, and let us know if you’re interested.
