Trailer For The Remake of The 1967 Cult Classic Horror Film SPIDER BABY
Here’s a trailer for a remake of Jack Hill’s 1967 cult classic horror movie Spider Baby, which is “set to captivate audiences with a thrilling blend of nostalgia and modern twists.”
It’s explained that “the new film promises to reimagine the beloved cult film – which starred Sid Haig and Lon Chaney Jr. – for a new generation of horror enthusiasts.” The original film’s director serves as Executive Producer of the remake which is said to “ensure a respectful homage to the 1967 cult classic.”
In the original film, “Chauffeur Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr.) looks after three strange siblings at their family estate. Ralph (Sid Haig), Virginia (Jill Banner) and Elizabeth (Beverly Washburn) all suffer from an inherited condition: a genetic disorder that causes a reversal in mental age and results in a crazed, childlike disposition. Because of his affection for the family, Bruno covers up the siblings' bizarre behavior and crimes. But, when relatives arrive at the family estate, the truth is bound to come out.”
Beverly Washburn, from the original movie, returns to the film in a different role. The cast also includes Ron Chaney, the grandson of the legendary Lon Chaney Jr. The film features Brinke Stevens from 1982’s Slumber Party Massacre, as well as Robert Mukes (House of 1000 Corpses).
The movie comes from Dustin Ferguson (Cocaine Cougar, Mega Ape), and the movie will premiere this October in L.A. This is a very low-budget production but there’s a market for these kinds of films. While it may not look like the best movie, it’s an opportunity to tell you to watch the original Spider Baby movie if you haven’t seen it!
