Trailer for the Roger Ebert Documentary LIFE ITSELF

Any film lover knows about legendary critic Roger Ebert. When I was growing up I loved watching his show with Gene Siskel, At the Movies. I always enjoyed listening to those two talk about movies. They were entertaining, and they also knew their shit.

In 2002 Ebert was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands, and it required treatments that included the removal of his lower jaw, which cost him the ability to speak or eat normally. He never stopped writing, though. He continued to publish frequently both online and in print right up until he passed away on April 4th, 2013.

In celebration of his life, Hoop Dreams director Steve James, along with executive producers Martin Scorsese (The Departed) and Steven Zaillian (Moneyball), created a documentary called Life Itself.

The film "recounts the inspiring and entertaining life of world-renowned film critic and social commentator Roger Ebert—a story that is by turns personal, funny, painful, and transcendent. Based on his bestselling memoir of the same name, LIFE ITSELF explores the legacy of Roger Ebert's life, from his Pulitzer Prize-winning film criticism at the Chicago Sun-Times to becoming one of the most influential cultural voices in America"

The movie is set to be released on July 4th, 2014, and here's the trailer.
