Teaser Trailer For The Satanic Panic Horror Series HYSTERIA! Coming To Peacock
Peacock has released a trailer for its upcoming Satanic Panic coming-of-age horror thriller Hysteria! and it was also announced that all of the episodes will premiere on Peacock on Friday, October 18, 2024. I should also mention that Bruce Campbell plays a role in the series.
Hysteria! explores America’s dark history of mass hysteria through the shocking story of the teenage Satanic Panic. The series follows a group of 1980s high school misfits as they exploit the growing hysteria around teen occult activity.
Here’s the full synopsis: “When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.”
Additionally, USA Network and SYFY will simulcast the first episode on October 18 with USA Network airing episodes each Friday. Watch the “Hysteria!” teaser trailer below.
The series comes from writers and executive producers Matthew Scott Kane (Stitchers) and David Goodman (The Orville), and they shared in a statement:
“[The series is] about the thrills of being young, rebellious in spirit and aspirational at heart – and the horrors of growing up and realizing that the world you thought you knew has shifted beneath your feet.
“Our hope is that parents and children (of the appropriate age, of course) can enjoy the chills, the laughs, the music, and the heart of Hysteria! together. Growing up is scary. So is parenting.”
I remember when this whole satanic panic thing was happening and I was fascinated by it. It’s interesting to look back on the madness of that era and the way people were acting. We see the same hysteria today, only the focus is on different things. All I can say is that Humans are just crazy.
The series is going to have some fun with the madness of the satanic panic, though!
Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed the premiere episode. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Dungeons & Dragons, Game Night) are executive produce.
The cast includes Garret Dillahunt (The Last House on the Left), Nolan North (Pretty Little Liars), Elijah Richardson (Fantasy Football), Milly Shapiro (Hereditary), Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13) and Jessica Treska (Alex & Me) who star alongside Bruce Campbell, Julie Bowen, Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, and Nikki Hahn.
