Trailer for the Sci-Fi Romantic Drama FOE Starring Saoirse Ronan
Amazon Studios and MGM have released the trailer for Foe, a new sci-fi romantic drama that stars Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal.
The movie centers on Hen and Junior, who farm a secluded piece of land that has been in Junior’s family for generations, “but their quiet life is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.” One of them is asked to join a space voyage and when they leave, a robot replica will be created of the other to stay with them on Earth. This is kind of like that Black Mirror episode in Season 6, “Beyond The Sea.”
It’s explained that Foe's “mesmerizing imagery and persistent questions about the nature of humanity (and also artificial humanity) bring the not-too-distant future to luminous life.”
The movie comes from director Garth Davis (Lion and Mary Magdalene), and it also stars Aaron Pierre. It’s currently set to premiere at the New York Film Festival. Foe will be released in theaters starting October 6th, 2023.
