Trailer for the Shudder Documentary SHARKSPLOITATION Which Is All About Shark Movies
Here’s a trailer for Shudder’s recently released documentary, Sharkspolitation, which dives into Hollywood’s obsession with making shark movies. The Hollywood shark movie craze all started with Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, and we’ve been seeing all kinds of shark movies made ever since.
This documentary actually dropped while I was at Comic-Con last week, and with everything going on during the time, this doc didn’t cross my radar until just recently. It’s a great doc that offers some fascinating insight, though, and it’s better late than never to share the trailer and let you know that it exists.
Here’s the description of the doc:
In the wake of blockbuster classic Jaws, a new subgenre was born. This new documentary explores the weird, wild cinematic legacy of sharks on film and the world's undying fascination. The documentary film features multiple interviews including of Roger Corman, producer of Sharktopus and Dinoshark; Joe Dante, who directed Corman’s Piranha; Carl Gottlieb, writer of Jaws 1, 2 & 3; Johannes Roberts, director of 47 Meters Down, and Mario Van Pebbles, who starred in Jaws the Revenge, along with the marine and environmental conservation advocate Wendy Benchley, who was married to the author Peter Benchley of the Jaws book.
Some of the shark movies we have coming In 2023 include Meg 2: The Trench, Big Shark, The Black Demon, and Ninja vs Shark.
Sharksploitation is directed by producer and director Stephen Scarlata, and it’s streaming on Shudder right now.
