Trailer for the Surfing Documentary TRILOGY: NEW WAVE About Rising Surf Athletes
This is a trailer for a new documentary film about surfing titled Trilogy: New Wave, and it follows three rising surf athletes.
Trilogy: New Wave stars Griffin Colapinto, who is currently ranked #1 in the World Surf League; Ethan Ewing, who is currently ranked #2 in WSL; and Seth Moniz on a dream quest across the globe for pristine waves in Indonesia, Peru, South Africa and Tahiti.
In the film, “As the pressures of head-to-head competition for a championship crown weigh heavy, the three put fierce rivalries aside and discover how the power of friendship can unlock even greater success in and out of the water.”
This film is a followup to the 2007 surf film Trilogy, and a lot has changed in the sport since then as it’s more of a mainstream sport now. Trilogy: New Wave examines this evolution of surfing with a new lens, offering an unexpected perspective of surfing's present.
As an avid surfer and a fan of the sport, I’ve watch a ton of these kinds of documentaries, and this is one that I’ve been looking forward to seeing!
The movie was directed by sports photographer / producer Andrew Mackenzie. It will be released in select theaters and on VOD on September 13th, 2024.
