Trailer For THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 50th Anniversary
Dark Sky Films has released a new trailer celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre directed by Tobe Hooper.
The movie was digitally restored in 2014 for its 40th anniversary, and for its big 50th, TTCM will be re-released in theaters again in October this year.
I’ve never seen the movie on the big screen. The first time I watched it was on a VHS tape when I was in jr. high and the movie disturbed the hell out of me! I had horrific nightmares after watching this film!
The description reads: “50 years ago, five youths on a weekend getaway in the Texas countryside fell prey to a butcher in a mask made of human skin and his cannibalistic family and horror cinema would never be the same.
“Violent, confrontational, and shockingly realistic, director Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre terrified audiences in a way never thought possible when it was unleashed on a politically and socially tumultuous America in 1974.”
"Facing a storm of controversy, censorship, and outcry throughout its troubled release, this masterpiece of horror has stood the test of time to become a landmark motion picture and cultural milestone."
It’s pretty crazy, did you know that Hooper limited the amount of onscreen gore because he wanted to secure a PG rating, but the MPAA rated it R anyway.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is screening at the Sitges Film Festival. Dark Sky will also re-release this 4K version in theaters on October 1st, 2024 this fall. For more info + tickets, visit their official site.
