Trailer For the Wild and Whimsical CGI/Live-Action Creature Comedy MARSUPILAMI

If you enjoy strange little creature comedies, you’re going to want to check out this trailer for the new French film Marsupilami. Pathé has released an energetic first look at this CGI fueled adventure and it looks like good time with a chaotic creature.

Marsupilami brings the long loved comic character created by André Franquin into a modern CGI comedy led by actor and filmmaker Philippe Lacheau, who also stars as David.

The marsupilami itself first appeared in Spirou magazine back in 1952 and has remained one of Europe’s most charming fictional animals. Yellow fur, black spots, an extreemly long tail.

This new take follows David after he agrees to haul a mysterious package out of South America. What he doesn’t realize is that he’s unknowingly smuggling a baby marsupilami and the moment that package pops open things spiral fast.

The synopsis reads: “To save his job, David (Philippe Lacheau) agrees to a crazy plan: to bring back a mysterious package from South America. He finds himself on a cruise ship with his ex Tess, his son Leo, and his colleague Stéphane, who is as dim-witted as he is clumsy, and whom David uses to transport the package for him.

“Everything goes awry when Stéphane accidentally opens it: an adorable baby Marsupilami appears and their trip descends into chaos! Fifi's gang is back, they've made a new friend...”

The trailer shows off exactly that kind of choatic creature mayhem. Even without subtitles it’s easy to follow the visual comedy. The creature bounces around, breaks everything in sight, causes panic and somehow stays adorable while doing it.

The trailer shows off a playful, fast moving family comedy driven by the bond between humans and a mischievous little creature who leaves pure mayhem in his wake. It looks colorful, silly, and fun in a way that feels refreshing.

The film stars Jamel Debbouze, Tarek Boudali, Elodie Fontan, Julien Arruti, Alban Ivanov, Reem Kherici, Corentin Guillot, and the legendary Jean Reno.

Pathé is set to released the film in French cinemas on February 4, 2026. A US release isn’t locked in yet but given how universal the comedy is it wouldn’t be surprising if it eventually makes its way over.
