Trailer For The "Wild Hitchcockian Noir" Thriller EILEEN Starring Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie
NEON has released a trailer for a new psychological thriller titled Eileen, which is a film described as a “wild Hitchcockian noir.” The movie stars Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho) and it’s an adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s acclaimed novel of the same name.
The film is set during a bitter 1964 Massachusetts winter, and the story follows a young secretary named Eileen, who “becomes enchanted by the glamorous new counselor at the prison where she works. Their budding friendship takes a twisted turn when Rebecca reveals a dark secret – throwing Eileen onto a sinister path.”
I had the opportunity to watch this film at Sundance earlier this year, and it was a super intense and great movie. The performances are awesome, and the way the story plays out is unexpected, and it sure does keep you on the edge of your seat. On top of that, the performances are fantastic! The trailer doesn’t give the main points of the story away, which is nice.
The author of the book shared in a statement: “Seeing my book come to life on screen has always been a career goal. The premiere at Sundance was a beautiful glimpse of what is to come.”
The movie opens in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 1st, followed by a wide theatrical release nationwide on December 8th, 2023. The movie was directed by William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth), from a script written by Moshfegh and Luke Goebel.
