Trailer For the Wonderfully Strange and Imaginative Film BRIGSBY BEAR with Mark Hamill and Kyle Mooney

The first teaser trailer has been released for the upcoming film Brigsby Bear, which was one of my favorite films from Sundance this year. This trailer comes off as a little weird and it may not sell you on watching the film, but it really is a great movie! It's a wonderfully made love letter to fandom, imagination, creativity, and the art of film. It is definitely a unique movie that I think audiences will enjoy.

The movie tells an offbeat, quirky story of a man named James (Kyle Mooney) who was raised in an underground bunker, off the grid, in the desert by two people who kidnapped him when he was a baby. He spent 25 years in this seclusion with extremely overprotective fake parents. Of course, he only knew them as mom and dad. The man who raised him is played by Mark Hamill. They also raised him on a fake TV show that they only produced for James called Brigsby Bear, which he's obsessed with. Here's a brief synopsis for the film that was released.

BRIGSBY BEAR Adventures is a children's TV show produced for an audience of one, James (Kyle Mooney). When the show abruptly ends, James' life changes forever and he sets out to finish the story himself.

For a detailed description of the story that the film tells, you can read my review for the film. There's a lot more to it than the basic description above.

The film also stars Claire Danes (Homeland), Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), Matt Walsh (Office Christmas Party) and Michaela Watkins (Casual, Enough Said). Brigsby Bear was written by Kevin Costello and Kyle Mooney and directed by Dave McCary. It will open in select theaters on July 28th.
