Trailer for the WWII Thriller THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE with Jessica Chastain and Daniel Brühl

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming World War II thriller The Zookeeper's Wife. It looks like an incredibly well-made film that tells a powerful story of survival during one of the darkest times the world has seen. I love it when stories like this are told through movies. They are stories that may have never been known to some people had a movie not been made.

This particular film is based on the true story of Antonina Zabinska (Jessica Chastain) and Dr. Jan Zabinski (Johan Heldenbergh), a husband and wife who run a zoo in Warsaw. As the synopsis states, Antonina "became a hero to hundreds during World War II." It takes place in the year 1939 in Poland, Antonina and her husband "have the Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care. When their country is invaded by the Nazis, Jan and Antonina are stunned – and forced to report to the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl of Captain America: Civil War). To fight back on their own terms, Antonina and Jan covertly begin working with the Resistance – and put into action plans to save lives out of what has become the Warsaw Ghetto, with Antonina putting herself and even her children at great risk."

As you can imagine, this is a very intense story, and it looks like all of the actors will shine in their performances. The Zookeeper’s Wife is in theaters March 31, 2017.

The real-life story of one working wife and mother who became a hero to hundreds during World War II. In 1939 Poland, Antonina Żabińska (portrayed by two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain) and her husband, Dr. Jan Żabiński (Johan Heldenbergh of "The Broken Circle Breakdown"), have the Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care.
