Trailer For TWISTED Turns a Real Estate Scam Into a Brutal SAW-Style Horror Trap
Paramount Movies has dropped the trailer for Twisted, an indie horror thriller that feels like a nasty evolution of the Saw formula with a modern hook ripped straight from today’s housing nightmare.
It takes the idea of real estate scams and twists it into something cruel, claustrophobic, and freaky, and judging by this trailer, it’s not pulling any punches.
Twisted centers on two millennial con artists who’ve figured out a slick hustle. They flip New York apartments they don’t own, selling to buyers who have no idea they’re being played. The scam is airtight until they target the wrong property.
That’s when the entire game flips, and they find themselves trapped by an apartment owner who isn’t just angry but deeply dangerous. He’s a surgeon with a horrifying plan, and once he takes control, survival becomes a brutal mental and physical test.
The trailer leans hard into that reversal of power, watching smug scammers slowly realize they’ve stepped into something far worse than legal trouble. It’s tense, nasty, and soaked in that cruel moral punishment energy fans of the Saw franchise know well.
The big question hanging over it all is simple and terrifying. What is he going to do to their brains now that he caught them?
The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, whose fingerprints are all over this concept. He previously helmed Saw II, Saw III, and the more recent franchise revival Spiral. His experience with sadistic traps and psychological torment makes him a perfect fit for a story that weaponizes guilt, greed, and entitlement.
The cast inlcudes Djimon Hounsou alongside Lauren LaVera and Mia Healey, with Neal McDonough and Alicia Witt rounding out the supporting cast.
The screenplay was co-written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, and the movie will be released direct-to-VOD on February 6th, 2026.
This one looks mean, smart, and brutally timely, tapping into real-world anxieties and turning them into pure horror fuel.
