TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Will Kick Off a New Trilogy of Films

Paramount Pictures has announced that the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film will launch a whole new trilogy of films. This will take the live-action film franchise all the way up to nine movies, and I imagine it won’t stop there.

There are also other projects in the works that will expand the Transformers universe as Nickelodeon is also developing a new animated series that will be released this fall. Then in 2024, there will be a CG animated Transformers theatrical movie coming out.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts s being directed by Steven Caple Jr. and stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Valez, Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal. The story will be set in 1994 and it will introduce several more robot factions.

The other robot factions include The Tarracons, who are a new threat to Optimus Prime, as well as The Predacons. The movie will also take place in locations such as Brooklyn, New York and Peru where they are filming at Machu Picchu. Some of the characters also include Bumblebee, Mirage, Arcee, and Wheeljack. As for the Decepticons, there’s Scourge, and Nightbird. You can check out some photos of them here.

When previously talking about the movie, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said, "We wanted to give the audience a lot of new (elements). We have exhausted I would say the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. How do we find a new set of villains and priorities, saving the world is left to the Autobots and in this case the Maximals. Part of the new news, if you've seen the other movies, you're going to see villains you've never seen before and a lot of elements we've never done before."

The director added, "We wanted to expand the universe, you have the Autobots and the Decepticons, and I would say my new flair to this is the Terracons. The Terracons are a new threat to Optimus Prime, and it's something I pride myself on when entering the franchise. I've done Rocky with Creed, and you bring the nostalgia that fans want, but also bring something they aren't expecting, and the Terracons are that."

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 9th, 2023.
