TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Director in Talks to Make the Next Film; Teases the Direction He'd Like to Go

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts opened in theaters this past weekend, hitting the number one spot, and pleasing fans of the franchise, especially the young ones. Not everyone was happy with the direction the movie is pointing in, from a more critical standpoint, but that never stopped a money-making franchise from marching forward.

In a recent interview with Deadline’s podcast, Crew Call, the film’s director, Steven Caple Jr., talked about his possible future within the franchise, as well as the direction he’d like to see the next film go.

When asked if he was signed on for the next film, Caple responded:

“I am not officially signed on for the next movie. I think we’re in the works now, but I’m not officially signed on. I’m in talks. I set up a lot of stuff in this film, and, with the studio, and the producers. You know, every time we talk about the future, we say ‘we’, it kind of naturally set up that way. But everything I planted here was for the future. So yeah, we’re in talks.”

When asked about the ending of Rise of the Beasts, which sets up the big G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover, and if that’s the direction the next film would head, Caple said:

“For me, it would be for sure. I would love to. I would love to. I have some ideas on how to branch out that part of the IP, and Hasbro IP franchise. If I could do this crossover that I plan on doing, I think there’s a way to still feed the fans what we want in Transformers films, and also do something cool with another legendary IP, so to speak, that I have always been in love with since I was a kid, and there’s parts of it and characters that we’ve just never used before, and I would be excited and thrilled to do something with that that is really cool and special.”

It sounds like Caple Jr. truly has a passion for the franchise, so I hope he is able to come back and make another movie. Would you like to see him at the helm of the next Transformers project?
