TRICK ‘R TREAT: WITCHING HOURS Trailer Unleashes Four New Sam Stories, Including Halloween in Space

Sam is taking Halloween to space. Apparently, Earth can’t contain the little burlap-headed menace anymore.

Legendary Comics has released the official trailer for Trick ‘r Treat: Witching Hours, a brand-new graphic novel featuring four original stories built around Sam and the rules of Halloween.

One of those stories sends the franchise far across the galaxy, while the others involve a haunted nursing home, a Halloween resurrection, and a creature stalking the cornfields of Wyoming.

The graphic novel, produced by Legendary Comics and Rocketship Entertainment, will be released to everyone on October 13, 2026. It also marks the first all-original Trick ‘r Treat graphic novel in a decade.

Trick ‘r Treat: Witching Hours is presented by Trick ‘r Treat creator and director Michael Dougherty, who returns as one of the writers alongside Zach Shields (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Trick ‘r Treat: Days of the Dead), Todd Casey (Trick ‘r Treat: Days of the Dead), Breehn Burns (Trick ‘r Treat movie, Trick ‘r Treat: The Haunting), and Curtis Waugh (Stegosaurus, the Moistest).

The artwork comes from Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), Burns, who served as an original concept artist on the Trick ‘r Treat movie and has illustrated its comics, and Tristan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road comics).

The four stories take Sam into some very different corners of Halloween.

ONE LAST HALLOWEEN follows a group of lonely patients living in a rundown nursing home who summon the spirit of Halloween so they can celebrate the holiday one final time. Naturally, their spooky little celebration takes a frightening and unexpected turn.

DID YOU MISS ME centers on a man who returns from the dead on Halloween. He has one night to reunite with his wife and find some closure, but his homecoming leads him to a horrifying and tragic secret.

HARVEST MOONS takes Halloween off Earth entirely. Far across the galaxy, children living on a conservative space colony disconnected from Earth's defunct roots discover that Halloween is much more than some forgotten tradition. Sam in outer space is such a fun direction for this world, and it opens the door to seeing how the rules of Halloween survive when humanity leaves its home planet behind.

Finally, HALLOWEEN COUNTRY heads to the cornfields of Wyoming, where three ranch hands interrupt a strange occult ritual. Their interference leaves them being hunted by a half-formed creature pulled straight from Halloween folklore.

Dougherty is clearly excited to unleash Sam again, syaing: “I’m thrilled to return to the twisted world of Trick ‘r Treat for more of Sam’s mischievous adventures. This new graphic novel is a true labor of love, created by a top-notch team of writers and artists, and I can’t wait for fans to join us for the best Halloween party ever.”

The original Trick ‘r Treat turned Sam into a modern Halloween icon by building an anthology around the traditions, rules, monsters, and consequences tied to the holiday.

Witching Hours looks like it’s having a lot of fun expanding that mythology without losing the nasty Halloween spirit that made the movie so memorable.
