TRON and TRON: LEGACY Movies Are Finally Getting Ultra 4K HD Releases
If Tron: Ares has you itching to revisit the Grid, Disney’s got you covered. The studio just announced that the original Tron and its sequel Tron: Legacy are finally getting brand-new remastered releases this fall.
At its Destination 23 showcase, Disney revealed that both films will arrive on Ultra 4K HD and digital on September 16.
This is huge news for fans since the last time either movie got a proper home release was back in 2014 with a two-movie Blu-Ray bundle.
Now, both films will get shiny new steelbook editions complete with the special features from their original DVD releases. No word yet on pricing, and unfortunatley, Disney doesn’t seem to be planning any theatrical re-releases ahead of Tron: Ares’ October premiere.
Disney also used the showcase to give fans another taste of Ares. The studio revealed that Nine Inch Nails’ music from the film will be featured at the Tron Lightcycle attractions in Walt Disney World Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort starting September 15 and 16.
The score and that striking red visual overlay from the film’s marketing will appear in the rides for a “limited time.” To top it off, a new promo was shown teasing Ares himself and the looming digital invasion he’ll play a central role in.
Pre-orders for the steelbooks haven’t gone live yet but should be available soon. Until then, fans can mark their calendars for September 16 to grab the remastered versions, and October 10 when Tron: Ares finally hits theaters.
