TRON: ARES Heads Home Next Week with a Packed Digital Release

If you missed Tron: Ares in theaters last month, you weren’t alone. The movie delivered a visually wild and immersive big screen experience, but despite the fact that it was awesome, the movie struggled at the box office and quickly became one of Disney’s most noticeable recent misfires.

The upside is that fans who skipped its theatrical run won’t need to wait much longer to see it. Disney has confirmed that Tron: Ares will be available to watch at home next week, giving everyone a chance to finally catch up with the latest chapter of the Grid.

Disney announced that Tron: Ares will hit digital platforms in the first week of December, with its physical Blu ray and DVD release following in early January 2026.

That means you’ll be able to jump back into the neon soaked world of lightcycles and rogue programs from the comfort of your couch in just a matter of days.

Alongside the film itself, the home release includes a hefty lineup of bonus content that digs into the making of the movie and the legacy of the franchise. Fans of behind the scenes material and long time Tron devotees will find a lot to enjoy here, starting with a series of featurettes that explore the history, artistry and production of Ares.

One standout extra is a piece described as a “personal journey with Jared Leto,” which chronicles the creation of Ares and the actor’s major role in pushing the film into existence after Tron: Legacy’s planned sequel stalled.

Whatever your opinion is on how that turned out, it’s an interesting angle that sheds light on how the project survived years of limbo. This movie would not exsist without Leto pushing it forward.

The release also includes three deleted scenes, including the intriguing “Lisberger Cameo.” Steven Lisberger, the original writer and director of Tron, made a fun appearance in Tron: Legacy as Shaddix at the End of the Line Club, so discovering that he filmed something for Ares makes this cut footage even more appealing. At least the scene will get its moment here.

Featurettes:

The Journey To Tron: Ares: “Go on a personal journey with Jared Leto, director Joachim Rønning and other cast and crew members for an in depth making of look showcasing the stunning visuals, incredible stunts, cool (but heavy) costumes, and next level sets of Tron: Ares.”

Lightcycles On The Loose: “Join director Joachim Rønning as he peels back the layers of one of the most action packed sequences in the film. Discover what ILM and the artists who grew up loving the franchise contributed, and what other iconic film the sequence pays homage to.”

The Artistry Of Tron: Ares: “Director Joachim Rønning and actor producer Jared Leto sit down to discuss their journey creating Tron: Ares. The pair unpack key moments and the striking visual, sonic and artistic philosophies that drive the storytelling both in and out of the Grid.”

Cast Conversations: “Join the cast in candid conversations as they reflect on stepping into character, memorable on set experiences, funny anecdotes and personal insights. Get a glimpse of the off screen camaraderie that shines in their electric on screen synergy.”

The Legacy Of Tron: “Decades after Tron first took the world by storm, and with Tron: Legacy in between, there’s loads of nostalgia to mine for Tron: Ares. Catch some clever easter eggs and noteworthy cameos as this enduring franchise continues to leave its mark.”

Tron: Ares releases digitally on December 2, with Blu ray and DVD hitting shelves on January 6, 2026.
