TRUE DETECTIVE Showrunner Says Season 5 Is "Even Darker and Even More Twisted"

The fourth season of True Detective, True Detective: Night Country, was a huge hit for HBO and it was the most watched season of the series. So, it wasn’t a surprise when the show was quickly renewed for a fifth season.

True Detective: Night Country showrunner Issa López is returning for the new season, and she recently teased what we can expect from it.

While speaking with THR, the showrunner explained that the new season is going to be very different and darker than what has come before.

López said: "I'm dying for everyone to know because it's very different and very exciting. It's even darker and even more twisted. I can't wait to put it out there."

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of story is being developed for the new season, but when previously talking about the new season López shared:

"In the writing, and it's a blast. It's completely different. There's different characters, different setting, different story — and I'm enjoying it like crazy." She added: a completely different adventure. Let's put it that way.”

In True Detective: Night Country, "When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.

“To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice."
