Skittles is Making a Broadway Musical Instead of a Super Bowl Ad This Year with Michael C. Hall
I don’t understand the hype around the Super Bowl, but every year people lose their minds over it and then the only things they ever talk about after Tuesday are the ads. I’m pretty sure that now the majority of people watch the Super Bowl strictly for the ads. However, one company is really changing gears. Instead of a long, silly commercial to get people to talk about their candy, Skittles is going a different route. Skittles is launching a live, 30-minute musical in a Broadway theater on the same afternoon as the Super Bowl. The show is called Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical and it will be performed a grand total of one time. According to the company:
Honestly, I’m confused. Regardless, Michael C. Hall will star in the show, Will Eno will write it, Drew Gasparaini will compose the music, Nathaniel Lawlor is on board as a lyricist and writer of additional material, and Sarah Benson will direct. Other cast members include Melvin Abston, Max Chernin, Ashkon Davaran, Lulu Fall, Stephanie Gibson, David Hess, Mylinda Hull, Miguel Jarquin-Moreland, Howard Kaye, Kathie Kneese, Raymond J. Lee, Julia Macchio, Will Mann, Mike McGowan, Gayle Turner and Mark Zimmerman.
Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical will perform at The Town Hall theater in Times Square on February 3, 2019, at 1 PM. You can go to Ticketmaster to purchase tickets starting for about $207. Some of the proceeds will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
