Turns Out Pedro Pascal Doesn't Actually Work on THE MANDALORIAN All That Often

Here’s a fun bit of trivia regarding The Mandalorian for you. It turns out that series star Pedro Pascal doesn’t actually work on the show all that often. I’m sure this shouldn’t come to a surprise to some people. After all, film productions use stand-ins all the time, and with a character who wears a helmet all the time, swapping out actors in the role would be easy.

I’ve actually wondered how much Pascal is actually in the series. Well, according to Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed the last episode, “The Gunslinger,” she didn’t even work with Pascal. She directed Pascal’s stand-ins, one of whom is Brandan Wayne, the grandson of the legendary John Wayne.

While talking to Vulture Howard said:

“He was in rehearsals for King Lear on Broadway. And so, while we were doing my episode, I wasn’t working with Pedro.”

When talking about Wayne’s work, she said:

“[Wayne] absolutely just brought everything to that character, and we were able to find the moments and figure them out together.”

Wayne also worked with Pascal when the actor recorded Mando’s dialogue, and Wayne talked about what it’s like collaborating with Pascal, saying:

“[Pascal] would ask me, and I would ask him the same question, which is, ‘Why did you move like this during that moment?’ We would go back and forth. The great thing about him is he’s not impressed with himself. He’s just an actor. And I mean that in the good way, not the bad way. He likes to learn and he likes to collaborate and he’s very good at it.”

I love that they have conversations and discussions about the movement of the character. What they’re doing seems to be working. I couldn’t be happier with how this character has been brought to life for this incredibly awesome Star Wars series.

I’d be curious to know how much Pascal is actually in the show over the course of the whole season.
