Two Deeply Connected Childhood Friends Reunite in Beautiful Trailer For PAST LIVES

A24 has released a trailer for the upcoming romance film Past Lives, and it looks like it tells a beautiful and moving story. This movie has been getting rave reviews on the film festival circuit and it’s one I’ve been very much looking forward to watching.

The film centers on Nora and Hae Sung, "two deeply connected childhood friends, who are split apart after Nora's family emigrates from South Korea to Canada. Two decades later, they are reunited in New York City for one fateful week as they confront notions of destiny, love, and the choices that make a life, in this heartrending modern romance.”

The film is described as an “aching, deeply romantic” film. The story is told across three moments in time and it explores “love, identity, and ‘In Yun,’ a Korean notion of fate stemming from two people’s connection in a past life.”

The movie was directed by Celine Song and the movie is said to be the “rarest of works that transports us, impossibly, to someplace deep in our souls, in between a life we’ve longed for and the life we live.”

Past Lives stars Greta Lee (Russian Doll, The Twilight Zone) stars as Nora, Teo Yoo as Hae Sung, and John Magaro as Arthur. It will be released in select US theaters this summer, but no date has been set yet.
