Two New Photos Released For JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 Which Will Serve as a "Bit of an Origin Story"
Thanks to EW, we’ve got two new photos to share with you for John Wick: Chapter 3. One features Keanu Reeves looking like a badass in the rain, and one with Reeves and Halle Berry’s character Sofia walking dogs through the desert in the Middle East.
The last John Wick film ended with the hitman being slapped with a $14 million contract on his life. The next chapter picks up right after the end of Chapter 2. Reeves says:
“The third chapter is literally connected to 2 and starts with John Wick on the run. It goes crazy from there.”
When talking about the new character Sofia, Reeves explains that, “She has a past with John. I end up going to find her to see if she can help me.” It’s explained that Sofia has two Belgian Malinois dogs, and they represent someone that she has lost. Director Chad Stahelski says, “Whereas John’s puppy was symbolic of his wife, Halle’s two dogs are symbolic of someone she’s lost.”
They also built a whole action sequence around Berry with these dogs! The director explains that they are “canine assistants…. They work very well tactically.” I can’t wait to see that!
Reeves and Berry will be joined by Anjelica Huston, who is described as “someone who was responsible for [Wick’s] upbringing and his protection.” Stahelski adds that Chapter 3 is going to be “a little bit of an origin story.” Here’s the synopsis:
John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.
The rest of the cast includes Asia Kate Dillon, who will be playing The Adjudicator of the High Table; Mark Dacascos will take on the role of an assassin named Zero; and Jason Mantzoukas will be playing the Tick Tock Man.
John Wick: Chapter 3 is currently set to hit theaters on May 17, 2019. And don't forget! Starz is also developing a spinoff TV series called The Continental.
