Two New Posters Released for DOCTOR SLEEP Tie the Film to THE SHINING
We’ve got two new posters to share with you for the upcoming film Doctor Sleep, and they make sure to let the audience knows that this film ties directly into The Shining. As you can see, the posters are heavily inspired by imagery from Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s original novel.
I can’t wait to see this movie! I’m so excited to see how this story for Doctor Sleep plays out! It comes from director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House), and the film continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel where his dad died trying to kill him. As you might imagine, that’s going to mess a kid up! The film adapts King’s novel, but the story has also been reworked to fit the film Stanley Kubrick made as well.
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.
Ewan McGregor takes on the role of Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson plays Rose the Hat, and newcomer Kyliegh Curran plays Abra. The ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe, and Cliff Curtis.
Doctor Sleep is slated for release on November 8th, 2019
