Ty Simpkins Joins Brendan Fraser in Darren Aronofsky's THE WHALE
Ty Simpkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3) has landed a role in Darren Aronofsky next film project The Whale. He joins previously announced cast members Brendan Fraser and Hong Chau, who are the leads of the film.
The project is based on Samuel D. Hunter‘s (Greater Clements) critically-acclaimed 2012 play of the same name. The Whale tells the story of a reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity. The six-hundred-pound recluse is hiding away from the world and slowly eating himself to death. He is given one last chance at redemption as he attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.
Simpkins will take on the role of Thomas but no further details have been revealed about his character. It’s also reported that Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) are in negotiations to join the cast.
Simpkins is set to return to star in the fifth installment of the Insidious horror franchise, which will mark Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut.
The Whale is being produced by A24 and it’s Aronofsky’s first film since Mother! which was released in 2017.
