Tyra Banks Joins the Cast of DON'T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER'S DEAD Remake
Actress, model and show host Tyra Banks (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Coyote Ugly, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing With the Stars) has signed on to join the cast of the Treehouse Pictures remake of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. The original 1991 movie followed four siblings whose mom went on an international vacation, leaving them with a very strict and very elderly babysitter, despite the oldest sister having just graduated from high school. But then the babysitter dies, and the kids have to figure out what to do to survive, and not tell mom the babysitter’s dead.
Treehouse’s remake is billed as “a present-day retelling centered on a Black family.” Banks will play the boss character Rose, a fashion executive at General Apparel West, who takes a chance on the oldest sister, by hiring her as an executive assistant. Bille Woodruff (Yellowjackets) is directing from a script by Chuck Hayward (WandaVision). Treehouse’s Justin Nappi and Juliet Berman will produce alongside Oren Segal. Juliana Maio and Tova Laiter will exec produce alongside the original film’s EP, Michael Phillips.
The original movie is one that I still watch anytime it comes on, and that I can say all the lines with as I watch. I loved it so much as a kid. It will be fun to see it remade and have my kids enjoy it as well. Hopefully they keep the line, “The dishes are done, man!”
