Ubisoft is Adapting CHILD OF LIGHT and WEREWOLVES WITHIN

Ubisoft has two more adaptations of their video games in the works as part of their Women’s Film and Television Fellowship.

Mishna Wolff and Tasha Huo were selected as screenwriters to spearhead projects and each was given the chance to choose any of Ubisoft’s properties to work on. One would be made for TV and the other for film. They then worked with either Margaret Boykin or Danielle Kreinik one-on-one before pitching their ideas to Ubisoft Motion Pictures and both were picked up.

Wolff’s now writing the script for a film adaptation of the virtual reality game Werewolves Within. Huo is working on the pilot for a TV adaptation of the popular Child of Light.

Here’s the plot summary for Child of Light:

Aurora, a young girl from 1895 Austria, awakens on the lost fairytale continent of Lemuria. To return home she must fight against the dark creatures of the Queen of the Night, who have stolen the sun, the moon and the stars. At stake is not only Lemuria, but Aurora’s true destiny.

Here’s one for Werewolves Within:

After several attacks on townsfolk, the medieval village of Gallowston has had enough! With a special guidebook in hand, players congregate to vote and eliminate any and all possible werewolves hiding disguised in the village.

Werewolves Within is a fast-paced game of hidden roles and social deduction for five to eight players. In one game, you might be a villager trying their hardest to cleanse the town of werewolves, while minutes later you could be the werewolf, lying and betraying friends in order to survive the vote.

Utilize specific roles and abilities, and the power of persuasion, to assess, deduce, and win the round. Whether playing a vigilant villager or a devious werewolf, no two games are ever the same.

I’m excited to see where both of these adaptations lead to. What games would you want to adapt?
