Ubisoft Unveils Some Big Plans Like AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA at E3 2021
Ubisoft held their Ubisoft Forward as part of E3 today and they showed off quite a bit. I’ve included the applicable trailers below so you can get caught up on your favorites. Be sure to let us know your favorite moments in the comments below.
Things kicked off Rainbow Six Extraction showing a pretty great trailer. In the game, you’ll need to work to contain an enemy menace and they look terrifying! Also, I think the Apex looks like a freaking Predator. Am I wrong? If the game is like the cinematic trailer that we got to see here, I think fans will be excited. Fans can enjoy the game on September 16 on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. We then got a little more in-depth look at certain aspects like the fact that it’s cooperative and agents will go MIA for a while if they get captured in a game. Also, we’re getting cross-play across all platforms! The gameplay walkthrough we saw looks fantastic and I think fans of the franchise will enjoy this new entry. The aliens look dope and I really want to play this game now. The Sprawl aspect reminds me of blight in Starcraft.
Next we got Rocksmith! I love Rocksmith 2014 and am so excited to hear about the new game, Rocksmith+. Like its predecessors, the game will teach you how to actually play a guitar or bass using a cable or microphone and they typically have amazing songs in the library. The mini-games are also great and the community can be very helpful. A PC closed beta will be happening with registration now available on the official site. The game is changing things up by becoming a subscription service instead of a one-time buy. You can use your phone as a microphone though for using your own amps or an acoustic guitar. The game will also now have chord charts in addition to the note-by-note arrangements from Ubisoft, plus you can create your own arrangements. There’s also a new recommendation system and progress tracker to help beginners and intermediate players more while advanced players will enjoy a new tab view that features the same songs in a view they may be more familiar look. I’m not excited that it’s becoming a subscription service, but maybe it’ll be worth it.
Riders Republic was the next subject. This outdoors MMO is all about being a big thrill seeker. Some of the game modes were shown off like the team multiplayer mode and career mode. There’s snowboarding, dirt bike racing, and more. It looks pretty good, just not my cup of tea. You can enjoy mass races, races with friends, and so much more on September 2. You can register to participate in open betas now.
The next game was Rainbow Six Siege which has been going for 6 years! The team shared some quality of life improvements coming to the game. PC, Luna, and Stadia will be able to play together with crossplay and cross-progression on June 30. Xbox and Playstation players need to wait until Early 2022. The animated trailer for Thunderbird is a lot of fun to watch too.
We then got a hodgepodge trailer for current games like Trackmania, For Honor, Brawlhalla bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Crew 2, and more. Ghost Recon then teased an announcement coming later this year.
If you’re a fan of Just Dance, we got our look at Just Dance 2022 with special guest Todrick Hall. The game will feature an exclusive version of his song “Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels”. You can also head to the official site to learn about being a part of the new music video for the song. The game will feature 40 songs and releases on all platforms on November 4.
Time to go over to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This game is incredible and we got a look back over the last while and then new features. The new features include one-handed swords coming in the next week and new game expansions. Fans can relive the Siege of Paris this summer which is sure to get fans excited. Black box infiltration missions will be returning with this expansion along with new enemies, gear, and more. If you own the game, you’ll also get free access to the Discovery Tour focusing on the age of Vikings. They also promised to be supporting the game later this year and next year which will be the first time an Assassin’s Creed title gets 2nd year support.
Mythic Quest on Apple+ got a little bit of light to celebrate its second season which will have a finale on June 25. Werewolves Within is hitting theaters on June 25 and on demand starting July 2 and fans got an exclusive look during the Forward.
Far Cry 6 was next in the event. In the trailer, we meet the new villain Anton Castillo as he has a boat filled with people are murdered. Some of the post-launch plans for Far Cry 6 were also shown off. You’ll get to play as iconic Far Cry villains like Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph as part of the content available in the season pass. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon will also be part of the season pass which is included in the Gold Edition of Far Cry 6.
Mario + Rabbids is getting a sequel called Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope! This was leaked earlier this morning, but now we got to see the trailer for the game and it looks great! It looks like fans are going beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into the vast galaxy in this title though. Thankfully, Mario’s got his friends to back him up. There are Luma Rabbids called Sparks and a Rabbid Rosalina, Rabbid Peach, Peach, and Luigi to help out. Luigi has a bow and Peach has a cannon on her parasol. Fans loved the first game and this is sure to be just as amazing. The villain is Cursa. As expected, the game will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch in 2022. We then got a pre-alpha look at the gameplay and it looks phenomenal.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft closed the Forward out with a message. He shared his gratitude for players, the industry, and his employees. He then shared a glimpse at a new game using their Snowdrop Engine. The game looks absolutely gorgeous! We then learn that it’s a new video game set in the world of James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. I may think that the movie is dull and boring, but the visuals that the film and now this game have are always absolutely stunning. It looks like the game will have the Na’vi defending themselves from humans who are just a bunch of jerks. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is releasing in 2022 for PC, PS5, Xbox Seires X|S, Amazon Luna, and Stadia.
