Universal Is Developing a New Monster Movie with Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Channing Tatum

Phil Lord and Chris Miller are teaming up with Channing Tatum again on a new Untitled Monster movie that is being developed by Universal Pictures. The three talents previously worked together on the 21 Jump Street revival films.

The film is described as being “a modern-day, tongue-in-cheek thriller inspired by Universal’s classic monster legacy with Tatum set to star.” This is said to be an original concept from Reid Carolin, who wrote the treatment. Wes Tooke is currently writing the script based on that treatment.

I’m curious to see what monster character they plan on playing with in the film. It’s explained that the project is “a bold genre reinvention of one of the studio’s most beloved characters from the Monsters Universe.”

Lord and Miller will produce the film alongside Tatum, Carolin, and Peter Kiernan. I have no idea what to expect from this, but I’m curious to see what this creative team is cooking up. They’ve made some great and entertaining projects in the past, so we’ll see.
