Universal is Looking To Reboot TWISTER with TRON: LEGACY Director Joseph Kosinski
It looks like the classic 1996 film Twister is going to get rebooted by Universal Pictures. According to Variety, the studio is in talks with director Joseph Kosinski to helm the project. Kosinski is the director behind films such as Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only The Brave, and the upcoming movie Top Gun: Maverick.
There are no details on what the plot of the film will entail, but it’s safe to say it will revolve around Tornadoes and storm chasers. The original film starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt as a couple on the brink of divorce. They team up to chase tornadoes in order to deliver their advance weather alert system that has to be placed in the path of the Twister.
I don’t know about you, but I loved that film when it was released! While I’m a fan of Kosinski and his film work, I’d like to think he has better things to do than remake Twister. While I’m a fan of Twister, which I actually watched with my kids a few days ago, I don’t understand the reason behind rebooting it. In my mind, there is no Twister without the late Bill Paxton.
Frank Marshall will produce the movie and the studio is currently meeting with writers to pen the script.
