Universal Is Making a Fifth and Final PURGE Movie and it Has a 2020 Release Date

Universal Pictures isn’t done with The Purge franchise yet. The studio has announced that they will be developing a fifth film in the franchise and it will be its last. The untitled movie will center around America’s annual 12-hour lawless rampage and it will hit theaters on July 10th, 2020.

Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes are once again producing the film with creator James DeMonaco, who previously talked about bringing and end to the franchise, saying:

“I have it in my head. I think I’m going to write it. I think it’s a great way to end it all. We want to end it all, I think, in this one, and I’m very excited. When I came up with the idea and pitched it to everybody, they seemed psyched, and I think it will be a really cool ending, how we take this one home."

While I enjoyed the first film, I haven’t really been a fan of The Purge sequel or the franchise as a whole. So, I’m actually kinda glad to learn that it’s finally coming to an end.

What are your thoughts on The Purge franchise? Are you happy to see it’s coming to an end? How do you think DeMonaco will close out the series?
