Universal Pictures Announces DESPICABLE ME 4 and It's Coming in 2024
Universal Pictures and Illumination aren’t finished playing with Gru and the Minions yet. They’ve just announced that they were developing Despicable Me 4 and it’s set to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2024.
Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove and Steve Coogan will all be returning for the next chapter in the animated sequel which will continue the story of the reformed super-villain and his army of yellow Minions.
The sequel will be directed by Chris Renaud, the director of the first two Despicable Me movies, and Patrick Delage will co-direct. Mike White will write the script and Illumination founder Chris Meledandri will produce.
There are no details to share on the story, but if you’re familiar with the franchise, you know that there will be lots of wild and crazy shenanigans from Gru and his crew as they take on a new threat that presents itself.
Universal will release its second Despicable Me spinoff film Minions: The Rise of Gru on July 1st after being delayed two years by the COVID-19 pandemic. That movie follows Gru’s childhood exploits, where he attempts to joins a supervillain team called the Vicious 6.
