BULLET TRAIN Filmmakers David Leitch & Kelly McCormick to Make Doc Series ACTION About Stunt Performers
Universal Pictures is teaming with Bullet Train director David Leitch and producer Kelly McCormick to make a documentary series titled Action. The doc series “follows elite stunt performers as they push themselves to the limit and risk personal sacrifice for professional success and aims to capture their real lives.” It will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes access to some of Hollywood’s biggest movie sets including “The Fall Guy,” directed by Leitch and produced by McCormick, a film that celebrates these talented individuals as the crew go about their work as stunt doubles, coordinators and second unit directors on set.
The series, which is currently in post-production, will be produced through Leitch and McCormick’s production and action design company, 87North.
Leitch said of the project:
“My first loves are action films, and the backbone of this genre are the stunt performers who bring their kinetic magic to the screen. Kelly and I are excited to finally shine the spotlight on these unsung, unseen heroes of Hollywood and celebrate the stunt community with ‘Action.’”
Helen Parker, executive VP, Universal Pictures Content Group, added: “There is absolutely no one better to work with when it comes to stunts and action movies, so we are thrilled that David and Kelly have been willing to secure such unprecedented access into the lives of their incredible teams who are unequivocally the best in the business. This documentary series gives a fascinating insight into the people behind the action; we get to meet some amazing characters and learn about what brought them to Hollywood and what they had to sacrifice in order to achieve success.”
This sounds like it’s going to be a ton of fun! The Hollywood stunt workers are an awesome crew who accomplish major fetes to bring us the action films we love. It’ll be cool to see how it all gets done.
