Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Mazes Ranked
Halloween Horror Nights is back at Universal Studios Hollywood, and the 2026 event is an absolute blast! I spent another night wandering through fog, monsters, blood, screaming victims, and some seriously twisted environments, and this might be one of the most fun years I’ve attended.
Universal went all out with the Halloween Horror Nights 2026 haunted houses. This year's lineup mixes huge horror franchises with wonderfully weird original concepts, and every maze brings its own flavor of thrills, chills, bloody carnage, and nightmarish visuals.
I brought my wife along this year, which made the experience even more entertaining because I got to watch her get completely freaked out by everything lurking around the dark corners.
As I do every year, I’m ranking the Halloween Horror Nights mazes based entirely on my experience walking through them. The cool thing about the 2026 lineup is that I genuinely had fun with all of them. Even the attraction sitting at the bottom of my list has plenty to enjoy.
So, here’s my ranking of the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2026 haunted houses and Terror Tram, starting with my favorite.
1. Hellraiser
Your Pain Is Their Pleasure
“Enter a realm of pure pain in a haunted house based on the original Hellraiser trilogy. You’ll journey through the depths of Hell and bear witness to Pinhead and the Cenobites’ nightmarish rituals. Then hope you don’t get trapped in your own.”
Welcome to Hell. Hellraiser was my favorite Halloween Horror Nights maze of 2026 because Universal brings the franchise's underworld to life in the most grotesque and insane way possible.
The Cenobites are already some of the most disturbing creations in horror, and walking through environments filled with their twisted rituals, flesh, chains, torture, and nightmare imagery makes for one hell of an experience. The maze embraces what makes the original Hellraiser trilogy so wonderfully messed up.
My wife had never experienced anything from the Hellraiser franchise before this. This was her introduction, and after walking through all of that madness, she has absolutely no interest in watching the movies.
I guess the maze did its job!
2. Evil Dead Burn
Evil Comes Home
“The Book of the Dead has been reopened, and now an infernal force consumes a family home. In this haunted house based on the new film, Evil Dead Burn, dodge possessed Deadites hell-bent on bloodshed, encounter not just the root of evil, but the whole family tree.”
I enjoyed Evil Dead Burn, so I was looking forward to seeing how Universal would transform its story into a Halloween Horror Nights maze. Im happy top say that they nailed it.
The Evil Dead franchise is practically made for this kind of attraction. You've got Deadites, demonic possession, gruesome kills, gallons of blood, and characters who desperately need to stop reading from that damn book.
The team did a great job translating the movie into a physical haunted house experience, and the resulting maze captures the nasty energy that makes Evil Dead so much fun.
3. Dead Deader Deadest
A Miracle of Modern Dead-icine
“When a miracle embalming drug backfires, the Deville Family Funeral Home’s permanent residents rise from their graves dead set on terrorizing the living in this haunted house.”
Original Halloween Horror Nights mazes are always something I look forward to because the Universal creative team gets to build its own mythology without having to follow an existing movie or TV series.
Dead Deader Deadest is a great example of why those houses are worth getting excited about.
A funeral home, a miracle embalming drug, and corpses that suddenly aren't interested in staying dead? That's an awesome recipe for a haunted house expderience!
This one turned out pretty great, and I can only imagine how much fun the creative team had dreaming up all of its undead madness.
4. Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness
Bow Before the Prince of Darkness
“Ozzy Osbourne’s shocking image was as haunting as his heavy metal hits. Now you’ll enter the Prince of Darkness’s kingdom where music and mayhem collide — and everything’s gone off the rails. Veer through a decaying world ripped straight from Ozzy’s lyrics in this haunted house inspired by one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest legends. Let the madness begin!”
This is 100% Ozzy Osbourne insanity. Instead of recreating a movie or television series, Universal gets to pull imagery from Ozzy's music and larger-than-life persona and turn it into a completely unhinged horror experience.
There's a ton of originality packed into this maze, with music, monsters, decay, and mayhem all crashing together. It's exactly the kind of strange creative swing I like seeing at Halloween Horror Nights.
5. Terror Tram Starring Art the Clown
‘Tis the Season for Screamin’
“Art the Clown arrives on the Universal Studios Backlot with his blood-soaked bag of presents in tow. But when he realizes he’s too early for Christmas, he hijacks the Terror Tram to start a ho-ho-horrific holiday tradition all his own. Encounter shocking twists on Christmas classics and remember: the best gift is the screams you have along the way.”
I'm not even a fan of the Terrifier movies. They're just not my thing. Yet I had a great time with Art the Clown taking over the Terror Tram!
Dropping Art into a deranged Christmas setting works surprisingly well, especially when the attraction starts twisting familiar holiday imagery into gruesome horror. It's ridiculous in exactly the way you want a Halloween Horror Nights experience to be.
You don't have to love Terrifier to appreciate the bloody Christmas nightmare Universal cooked up here. I think horror fans are really going to dig this one, because Art The Clown is one hell of a deranged dude.
6. Killceañera: Music by SLASH
Quince Años. Quince Velas. Quince Monstruos
“In this haunted house featuring music by Slash, a vengeful birthday girl summons malevolent spirits to her quinceañera to exact monstrous vengeance on school bullies.”
I had absolutely no idea what to expect from Killceañera, and I went into it with basically zero expectations, and it ended up being a ton of fun!
The vengeful quinceañera concept gives the creative team a chance to get wonderfully nasty with the environments and monsters, while the music from Slash gives the whole thing another shot of energy.
It was one of the bigger surprises of the night.
7. Killer Klowns From Outer Space
There’s Nothing Funny About These Klowns
“If ever there’s a reason to be afraid of Klowns, this is it. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space have landed in this haunted house. And the joke’s on you if you get trapped in their cotton candy cocoons — becoming a gooey, gruesome snack.”
This thing is colorful, bloody, ridiculous, and incredibly entertaining. Killer Klowns From Outer Space is already built around such wonderfully bizarre imagery that it translates perfectly into a Halloween Horror Nights maze.
Universal gets to play with the movie's crazy creatures, cotton candy cocoons, alien circus aesthetic, and goofy horror without holding back.
Fans of Killer Klowns From Outer Space are going to have a great time walking through this one.
8. Stranger Things 5
It’s Hawkins’ Last Stand
“The Upside Down is invading Hawkins, and this time no one’s safe. In this haunted house based on the final season of Stranger Things, join the gang in Hawkins for one last adventure as you try to survive Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer. Will you defeat Vecna once and for all?”
There are some really fun visuals packed into Stranger Things 5, and Universal did a great job recreating the nightmarish world of Hawkins and the Upside Down.
Unfortunately, the experience itself didn't flow well when we went through it. They packed so many people into the maze that there were moments when we were just standing around waiting for the crowd ahead of us to move.
That kills a lot of the tension because you can see scares coming before you reach them. There's plenty here for Stranger Things fans to enjoy, but the overcrowding put this one at the bottom of my ranking.
9. Sinners
Sink Your Teeth Into Sinners
“This juke joint’s opening night might be your last. Pierce the veil and experience the horror of the film Sinners as the Smokestack Twins defend Club Juke from a hive mind of bloodthirsty vampires.”
As a fan of Sinners, this was one of the Halloween Horror Nights mazes I was excited to experience. Walking into Club Juke and seeing elements from the movie recreated as a horror attraction is certainly cool, and there are some fun moments along the way.
I just expected more from it. Compared to some of the other houses this year, Sinners wasn't particularly scary, and I walked out feeling like the concept had the potential to deliver something much more intense.
Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Is a Killer Year
Universal Studios Hollywood has put together a seriously fun Halloween Horror Nights lineup for 2026. Some houses are scarier than others, some lean harder into spectacle, and others simply embrace weird, bloody fun.
More importantly, the mazes don't all feel the same. Hellraiser throws you into grotesque infernal horror, Evil Dead Burn unleashes Deadite carnage, Dead Deader Deadest delivers an awesome original story, and Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness turns heavy metal imagery into a full-blown nightmare.
If Halloween Horror Nights has become an annual tradition for you, there's a lot to look forward to in 2026. Horror fans are going to eat this stuff up.
For me, Hellraiser takes the crown. But with this lineup, I imagine fans are going to have some very different rankings.
