Universal's BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Remake Moves Forward With Writer David Koepp

Universal Pictures is moving forward with a remake of their classic monster movie The Bride of Frankenstein. The studio has hired David Koepp to write the script for the film.

Koepp is a talented screenwriter who has brought us films such as Mission: Impossible, Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Panic Room, and more. So at least there's a chance that the script for the film will be decent.

I'm not really excited about this idea of creating a new series of new monster movie remakes that are being spearheaded by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan. The fact they are looking to contemporize everything is just a stupid idea to me. The period setting and vibe is what makes these monsters so eerie, legendary, and timeless.

My fear is that these films will end up being cookie-cutter type films with no real imagination behind them — like most remakes of classic films!

A few weeks ago, we learned that the studio was looking at bringing Angelina Jolie to star in and possibly direct the film, which would be pretty solid casting if they are able to actually get her on board. Her involvement with the film all depends on how the script turns out.

They've got some solid talent connected to this project, I just wish they were approaching the material in a different way.
