Unsettling Atmospheric Trailer for the Horror Film THE OUTWATERS

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about this upcoming horror movie The Outlanders, and the first teaser trailer has been released. The trailer has an atmospheric and unsettling vibe, but I’m not sure it does the best job of selling people on wanting to see the movie.

The movie is coming from Cinedigm and Bloody-Disgusting, and early reviews say that it’s “the most effective use of the found footage format since The Blair Witch Project.” Other reviews describe it as “unspeakable, primal terror,” “a terrifying, suffocating viewing experience,” and “an assault entirely unlike anything found-footage audiences have ever been subjected to.”

Here’s the synopsis:

“The Outwaters takes viewers off the beaten path and into their own nightmares. The film plays out over three memory cards found in a sun-drenched section of the Mojave Desert. The footage within is that of a foursome, who set out to make a music video while camping, led by a charismatic LA filmmaker. Their trip starts out uneventful, though their peace is occasionally disrupted by unexplained sounds, vibrations, and unnatural animal behavior. Then one night everything changes, sending the foursome on a mind-bending trip through terror.”

The Outwaters will be released in theaters beginning February 9th and will eventually land exclusively on the horror streaming service Screambox.
